Restoration

Although the historic Main Building (Building 51) was still being used by the Office of Mental Health into the 21st century; the patient wards which flanked administration had laid abandon since the mid 1970s - all the while falling into great despair.

What went wrong with the official closure of Building 51? Why has the building suffered so much damage over such a relatively short period of time? When compared to other hospitals from the same time period - one will quickly notice the level of deterioration is much, much greater. Why?

Below is a gallery focusing on the self destruction of the historic Main Building, it is important that the public know - and gain a visual sense of just how badly this building has become over the years. I hope one gains an appreciation after viewing this gallery for the scope of the Hudson Heritage project, since the project calls for the complete restoration of the Main Building.
